Pants= All Types Pants and more..
..Leggings - One Piece-cut 2- Tubins- Topstitch Pockets etc.. Regular pants-4 pieces 2 fronts and 2 backs and 4 piece pockets
So many choices...plain pants.... leggings/tubins
1. quick and easy 1 piece to lay on fabric folded over
This is the type of pattern for the pants I wear in my total outfits with the free flowing jackets at work most days. They look like leggings, but they are what I call tubins...I make the top of the pants like leggins, comfortable and fitted with the elastic waists.
One piece is your right leg and one piece is your left leg.
Make that curve the same as your curve. Measure your curve with a string or your measuring tape, from crotch to waist and then lay it on your pattern piece so they are the same.
This is how they are shaped... one pattern piece... using 1 + yard of fabric 54-60 wide folded over... stretchy like scuba
No, I don't have a cutting table. I use my bed. That is my bed with double sided minky as my blankets-No excuses. I don't have a sewing room or table. I do have a sewing machine over 20 years old on a little table in the corner next to my coffee pot and my guitar. YOU CAN DO IT!
I buy enough non roll elastic to do 10 pants at a time. I cut them into waistband lengths and sew the circle.

I don't like to take the time to pull elastic through the casing. I make the casing over the elastic. I leave an opening in the front of the casing about a half inch so I can tell the front from the back and if I need to adjust the size.
Sew your pants together on the leg and crotch- Overcast your seams on the ends and leave your pants inside out. Pull your circle of elastic over the top of the pants-fold your fabric over the circle and turn under the ends a quarter of an inch. Folded over the elastic start at the front center seam and topstitch on that quarter fold over without catching the elastic and when you get all the way around and back to the center seam stop just a half inch before you meet where your started. This will leave an opening you can pull the elastic tighter or add a piece of elastic on- if it is too tight-Then the pants will fit me for years.
This is the pattern with the legs cut baggier than leggins - hence tubins. I use a quarter inch seam and use an overcast stitch as I do not have a serger... Saves time and my pattern is already adjusted to my size and length.
The legs of the pants are straight on each side all the way down, so they are not tight at all and they compliment my outfits without looking like I want to be naked in public. I know a lot of people wear leggings, but it looks to me like they might as well come in with nothing on. This is why I sew, I want to be more flattering looking than naked...LOL...or like I just rolled out of bed, and walked in showing all my crevices............ewww for others viewing.
