Latest Make Your Own Style

Make Your Own Style by Necessity- No pattern

This is my style.  Roomy and comfortable.   I have written about my auto-immune disease, which needs large sleeves and comfortable clothes.  No exposure to sun, but cool and comfortable.

This outfit was a large shawl that someone at work gave to me when they came back from traveling.  I loved the colors, but I would never wear a shawl, so I made a top out of it.  Of course, because it was a shawl, there was not enough fabric to make a traditional blouse, but I could with a little extra fabric inserted.  This is how I made it.  Folded over part that was enough for almost a front and back and cut a boat neck on the top fold.  I needed to add to the sides and the left over rectangles to make baggy arms and wide enough for my hips.

I found some hunter green chiffon or georgette and just doubled over a strip big enough to add a couple of inches to both the rectangles for the sleeves and to the sides of the front and back.

I measured my shoulder slope and cut the front and back pieces to slope like my shoulders and then took the sleeve rectangles and pinned them onto the fabric edge of the front and back sewn together, matching the shoulder seam to the center of the sleeve rectangles.   Sewing the seam that was pinned on there was left a seam going all the way from the end of the sleeve to the bottom of the front and back.  I then inserted the folded over chiffon so it was 4 layers of the sheer fabric to make it a solid dark green color and pinned the strip of dark green on both sides from the sleeve end to the botton of the front and back.  Ez Pz

I intertwined my left over strip of matching fabric and some dark green as scarves for accent.

Now to complete the outfit I used a dark green free flowing jacket.

In my pants blog, I talk about my favorite palazzo pants.  I will post the ones I am making right now for my upcoming 2 weeks or more vacation trip to the beach.  I have to have comfy clothes, and hats, which I will make, so You can see what I do.  Multiple bucket hats, easy packing just stack.  I will attempt wide brim hats.   and different caftans and kayaking outfits out of sport lycra and jackets, my designs on fabrics.

This dress is my design print on Sport Lycra.(Bathing Suit Material) can walk the beach and into the water and will be fine.

The Free Flowing Jacket is Poly Chiffon with the same print of butterflies by the water and it also can be wet and dry off immediately.  I have tried and tested my kayaking and beach outfits and walked in and out of the water with them.

When I am not blogging, that does not mean I am not sewing.  I just have sew many projects going on all the time, I don't choose to blog them immediately while doing.

The fun part is you can make your hats to match or as with the blouse I just did make the hats two tone like the outfits.
